Process & Production
Clase Azul Plata is an unaged tequila created to preserve the fresh character of agave rather than introducing flavors through oak maturation.
The tequila is produced from Blue Weber agave grown in Jalisco. The agave is slowly cooked in traditional masonry ovens for approximately 72 hours, helping transform the plant's natural carbohydrates into fermentable sugars while developing its cooked-agave character.
Following cooking, the agave proceeds through fermentation and distillation. Clase Azul uses a proprietary yeast in the production of Plata, contributing to the expression's distinctive aromatic and flavor profile.
Unlike Clase Azul's Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo expressions, Plata does not undergo barrel aging. This keeps oak influence out of the final profile and allows its fresh citrus, herbal, fruit, and agave characteristics to remain prominent.
The finished tequila is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
